WHAT IS GLOBAL WARMING: FACT OR FICTION?

By Dr. Ameh Joseph Friday Ph.D

I'm sure most of us have heard a little something about global warming. It seems it has become a major topic of discussion from the late 20h century to date, a bit like obesity. The media has also helped in this publicity as you hardly switch on the TV or open a national newspaper in any country without seeing something about 'Going Green'. GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS).

By Dr. Ameh Joseph Friday EX:BATCH A CORPER 2009

A geographic information system (GIS) integrates hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.

Geography Matters:
Geography plays a role in nearly every decision we make. Choosing sites, targeting market segments, planning distribution networks, responding to emergencies, or redrawing country boundaries—all of these problems involve questions of geography.
GIS allows us to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts.

A GIS helps you answer questions and solve problems by looking at your data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared.

THE IMPACT OF THE  PETROLEUM INDUSTRY BILL (PIB) ON THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY AND THE ECONOMY.

By Dr. Ameh Joseph Friday.

The Nigerian Petroleum Industry Bill or called in short “PIB” is a remarkable document. It is a single bill that contains all the legal requirements that will apply to the entire petroleum industry in Nigeria.

Usually matters such as petroleum administration, royalties and taxes building procedures, environmental obligations, employment, business opportunities and technical requirements are put in a variety of different laws and regulation. Only highly paid lawyers can find their way through a legal jungle. Such a complex set of laws make it difficult to understand for investors what they can do and what they have to pay. Managers have problems to understand how to comply with local content and environmental regulations.

Finally, the PIB combines 16 different Nigerian laws in a single transparent and coherent document. This is the first time that such a large scale consolidation has happened anywhere in the world. It is a complete and thorough clean up of the existing Nigerian Petroleums Laws.
